Karen Richmond

PARTNER

BIO
Karen brings clarity and simplicity to complex scenarios, and has great skill in finding a way to bridge the gap that can arise between the right solution and the standard legal interpretation. Her practice focuses primarily on real estate, business law, and estate and trust planning.

Karen brings to the table an incredible skill set in legal research and analysis. She has worked as a consultant in the areas of environmental cleanup, real estate, trusts and estates, corporate law, and bankruptcy, helping with motions, trials, and pursuing insurance coverage.

A Kitsap County native, Karen grew up on a family farm in Olalla. She graduated from law school magna cum laude in 2000, and was admitted to practice in Washington in 2001.

Initially, Karen worked in public policy research, focusing on education, labor law, and public understanding of law. She also designed a study course for Constitutional Law, and spent a year teaching high school. After taking some time off to start a family, and then freelancing for a few years, Karen founded Richmond Law, PS, in 2012.

Karen lives in Port Orchard with her husband, Ron, and their four children, where they share enjoyment of science fiction and fantasy tales, games, and Lego. Karen also enjoys trails, forests, and lakes, and takes the kids along regardless of whether they share her enjoyment. It is also important to know that Karen was a Tolkien fan long before the movies were even an idea.

He offers significant experience in estate and trust planning, elder law, guardianship, probate, real estate, and bankruptcy, as well as a general civil litigation practice.

Ron brings great skill in putting together a plan of action to help the client get from where they are to where they want to be – whether it is designing an estate plan, negotiating a settlement, or going to trial. He has represented numerous individuals and businesses with disputes over property, personal injury, consumer issues, contracts, and estates.

He regularly works with vulnerable adults and their family members, and is on the Title 11 GAL Registry for Kitsap County. He is a requested speaker, and has presented at numerous seminars in the areas of guardianship, probate, estates, and estate and trust planning.

Originally from Southwest Ohio, Ron earned his law degree in 2002. Prior to entering the practice of law, he worked for over a decade in the fields of insurance and financial management, specializing in plan design and implementation. After moving to Washington, Ron transitioned to the practice of law. He was an associate with GSJones Law Group in Port Orchard from 2010 through 2014, joining Richmond Law in January 2015 to form Richmond & Richmond.

Ron is also active in his community, serving persons in need through legal aid and pro bono cases. He is a member and past president of Kitsap Business Leaders BNI, and is a Council member for Spirit of Life Lutheran Church. He was active in revitalizing the Kitsap Young Lawyers Division, serving as their president in 2011. Ron lives in Port Orchard with his wife, Karen, and their four children, ages 14, 13, 10, and 10. He is an avid swimmer and racquetball player. In his few moments of spare time, he enjoys reading, gaming (including chess), building Lego with the kids, or watching baseball, sci-fi, and fantasy – an unusual combination, to be sure.
